We know our way around servers and hosting like the back of our hand and have done so since 1997. Keyweb is an unlisted public limited company, which has been run by the owner since its foundation with a lot of heart and soul. Our location in the middle of Germany, in the heart of Thuringia - Our mature profile and our always security-oriented services are particularly appreciated by Keyweb's customers.

Frank Nowag, Vorstand
Als Gründer der Keyweb AG vereint Frank Nowag viele wegweisende Rollen: Er ist Unternehmenskomponist. Er ist Perspektiventänzer. Er ist Kooperations-Lotse.
In erster Linie ist Frank Nowag allerdings unser strategischer Kopf und erfahrener Steuermann mit Blick voraus, der mit seinem Gespür für individuelle Kundenbedürfnisse und notwendige Fortentwicklung die Keyweb AG seit 1997 mit viel Leidenschaft und Begeisterungsfähigkeit sicher durch die Gezeiten manövriert. Nicht selten zeigte sich hierbei sein Talent als Troubleshooter und Kommunikations-Enthusiast.
Frank Nowag ist es gelungen, Keyweb als Geheimtipp und Experten für Root Server Hosting in Deutschland zu etablieren. Weil er es wagte, mit Keyweb auch neue Routen zu navigieren und gegen den Strom der Branche zu schwimmen, kann die Keyweb AG in so mancher Hinsicht eine Vorreiterrolle in der deutschlandweiten Webhosting-Branche für sich verzeichnen.
Trotz eines online basierenden Geschäftsfelds hat Frank Nowag stets die Verbindung zum Menschen dahinter als elementaren Geschäftsbestandteil forciert und gepflegt. Von Beginn an ist es dem Erfurter daher wichtig gewesen, sowohl seinen Mitarbeitern als auch den Kunden einen sicheren Hafen aus traditionellen Tugenden und Prinzipien zu schaffen - der Technik und immer weiter voranschreitenden Digitalisierung zum Trotz.
Mit seinen visionären, nicht selten kontroversen Ansätzen setzt er Impulse und lässt sich nicht so schnell den Wind aus den Segeln nehmen. Stattdessen richtet Frank Nowag die Segel neu aus, wirft die Schoten los und steuert den nächsten Kurs an.

Holger Amberg, Leitung Technik
Welche Beschreibung Holger Amberg wohl am besten gerecht wird?
Er ist ein IT-Virtuose. Ein IT-Bändiger. Ein IT-Flüsterer. Oder eine Kombination aus allen? Auf jeden Fall ist er unbestritten unser IT-Champion!
2002 begann Holger Amberg nebenberuflich Keyweb-Luft zu schnuppern, bevor er 2004 vollständig zu Keyweb wechselte. Er lernte die Keyweb AG noch in den kleinsten Anfangsstrukturen und mit ersten großen Visionen kennen (und lieben).
Holger Amberg verdanken wir es, dass Keyweb in der Lage war und ist, sämtliche hostingrelevanten IT-Herausforderungen anzunehmen und zu lösen. Gemeinsam mit seinem Team von Tüftlern, Systemathleten und Cracks hat er eine enorm leistungsfähige IT-Infrastruktur geschaffen und einen Berg an Fertigkeiten, Wissen und Erfahrungen angehäuft.
Als praktisch veranlagter Autodidakt schafft Holger Amberg es, die Technik der Keyweb AG entsprechend der Vielfalt der Kundenprojekte und Anforderungen der Internetbranche stetig weiterzuentwickeln. Nach dem Motto „Kreative Kunden bringen kreative Projekte, also muss auch in der Technik mit Kreativität reagiert werden“ vermittelt er den Keyweb-Technikern versiert eine jederzeit problemlösungsorientierte Einstellung und Arbeitsweise.
Denn „geht nicht“- gibt‘s einfach nicht! – Dafür ist er viel zu ehrgeizig. Stillstand käme für ihn mit Langeweile gleich und die möchte er nicht - außer vielleicht, wenn er gerade in seinem Bully neue Welten bereist.

1997
Founding
Keyweb is founded by Frank Nowag, at that time still under the name Keyma GmbH. The first homepage internetprovider.net goes online.
1998
Free web hosting tariff
The company's growth begins with the offer campaign of a free web hosting tariff on “kostenlos.de“.
2000
Server location Germany
Turning away from the US server hosting provider by renting its own space in a data centre in Frankfurt.
2001
Start Dedicated Server building
Start of own server production of Keymachine® brand servers for more flexibility and quality assurance.
2001
The Keyweb brand
Keyweb has been a registered trademark in Germany since 29.10.2001.
2002
Change of name
Keyma GmbH becomes the Keyweb AG.
2003
Data center rental in Erfurt
Decision for server location in the middle of Germany.
2004
1. Keyweb data center
Planning and construction of our own TÜV-certified data center in Erfurt.
2005
Focusing
Focus on dedicated Linux servers for greater differentiation from the competition.
2006
Launch of monthly contract terms
Removal of long-term contracts also for pure hosting tariffs. Contractual commitments are favoured with discounting.

2. Keyweb data center
Design and construction of another data center in Erfurt.
2009
Traffic flatrate
Pioneer: Introduction of free data transfer volume also for simple hosting tariffs.
2010
Managed option
For the first time, maintenance and care is included as KeyManaged for dedicated servers.

Keyweb Country Representatives
In several countries, Keyweb‘s Hosting is operated by specialised reseller.
2013
Foundation of Keymachine Server Manufactory
The company's own server construction is outsourced to the Keymachine Server Manufactory.
2014
Homepage and CI Relaunch
The Keyweb brand and homepage were given a new look.
2015
Promoting alternative software systems
Increased focus and use of alternative software systems for data protection and security.
2016
Free server admin tool KeyHelp®
KeyHelp, the server management software popular with Keyweb customers, is launched and made freely available to everyone on keyhelp.de.
2017
Intensive IT association involvement
Keyweb actively shapes the IT work and further development in Thuringia through committed participation in various associations.
2018
Certification in sustainability
Keyweb intensifies the sustainable corporate orientation and receives the Certification of the German Institute for Sustainability and Economy.
2019
Expansion of the data centre structure
In order to serve increasing customer project services, Keyweb is again expanding its IT infrastructure.
2020
Expansion of the safety concept
IT security is being systematically expanded at all levels of the company as well as in the range of services offered by Keyweb.

Keyweb AG supports WeLa - free cargo bikes in Weimar
Sustainable mobility is an important step towards a climate-conscious future. This year, the WeLa initiative was launched in Weimar, which enables Weimar residents to borrow a cargo bike free of charge and thus do without a car even when transporting larger objects. Keyweb AG, which already supports the similar project "E(l)la" in Erfurt, is now also sponsoring the domain and the corresponding web space for "WeLa".
